PLANNING: TREATMENT

Research

In order to understand what the audience want, I have watched an educational video presented by Frank Ash - Creative Consultant for the BBC. This video highlights the importance of a Top Line and Big Question. The best way to achieve audience satisfaction is by asking your self what the audience want to receive from the plot. In order to understand audience needs, you have to put yourself in the shoes of your target audience and what would appeal to them. To create a successful production the main message of the plot has to be relatable and personal to the target audience.

Treatment

Our story is based on the murder of Lottie Wilson in Munns Park, London. Lottie was just an ordinary female who enjoyed frequent runs through the park. Although there is no evidence, the blame is placed on three main suspects: Kieran Tucker, Herbert Crafts and Alan Cork who are all under investigation by Detective Superintended Thorne. Kieran Tucker is a young man who spends most of his day in the pub or in the park. Herbert Crafts is a young successful businessman who thinks he is superior to everyone he encounters, coincidently on the day of the murder Kieran and Herbert have a confrontational interaction. Alan Cork is an old fisherman who no one would expect to be linked with any types of crime, however, as he spends all his time in Munns Park, he is seen as a suspect. Therefore, this creates an idea to the audience that only three suspects are involved. However, as we don’t show the girl’s dead body or any crime scene it means that the girl is possibly still alive.

Our Top Line

Our Big Question
Is Lottie really dead, or is she framing the three suspects? If so why?
